 NEWS

Update - w/c 6th June

Further to the latest government advice in relation to COVID-19:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/staying-alert-and-safe-social-distancing/staying-alert-and-safe-social-distancing and guidance from the Canine & Feline Support Group: http://www.cfsg.org.uk/coronavirus/SiteAssets/SitePages/Home/29th%20May%202020%20Animal%20Business%20Guidance.pdf, the below details the new protocols for training with The Contented Hound and applies to all clients.

Group classes are now resumed with the following new protocols. These must be adhered to by all clients with no exception.

  • Only one handler per dog allowed in the training area.

  • Maximum of 5 dogs and handler per class

  • You should bring all your own equipment including longlines, toys, mats (for puppy classes).

  • Hand sanitiser will be provided.

  • Owners should touch only their own dogs

  • 2m social distancing must be adhered to at all times.

  • Clients will have their own designated area at the class.

Private 1-1s can now be conducted at BCA with family groups of up to 5 people.  Strict social distancing to be adhered to.

Puppy visits can be held in the garden of clients as long as there is easy access to the garden, and social distancing to be adhered to at all times.

Update - Monday 23rd March.

All of my large group classes are postponed and all clients emailed. Zoom live video options for missed classes and I will arrange makeup sessions for when we're through this.

1-1s and private training walks still undertaken but following strict government guidelines - there are outdoors and with minimum 2 metre social distancing.

Online 1-1s and live video puppy classes all available and the best way to continue (or start!) your puppy's education.

I will also commit to giving more advice and tips here on Facebook to keep your dogs entertained and stimulated during these challenging times.

Please do email or call me if there is anything I can help with or if you have a question. I want to help!

Update - 18th March 2020

I appreciate you will all be aware of the government guidelines regarding the coronavirus.

• Any at-risk clients and any clients not feeling well please stay home from events and classes still being held. I will also stay home if I am not feeling well.

• Please wash your hands before and after class and please bring hand sanitizer if you have any if handling others equipment.

• Please bring your own leads, long lines and toys for additional peace of mind.

• We are continuing to run all of our classes as planned but if illness affects me or my family, I will have to cancel, possibly at short notice.

The good news - my classes are all ON. They are all run outside and I ensure sufficient distance between each dog. Please do continue respect this and keep this distance apart.

I remain open for private training and training walks, albeit with the necessary precautions.

For anyone getting a new puppy, I can still help with lots of support and socialisation in the all-important early weeks.

Given exercise and being outside are going to be important to our mental well-being through this challenging period and to our dogs too, I will keep these outdoor classes going as long as possible or allowed to.

Given I have so much space in which to train, I also plan to arrange some ad hoc workshops on different topics and keep group sizes small, so please do keep an eye on my site and on Facebook.

For those not able to attend class, I always send follow up notes of all exercises covered. I will also do a call (skype or normal call!) with anyone unable to attend to help catch up. If required I will also offer online video support. I want to help you all as much as possible through this.

COVID-19 advice for clients

With the current concerns around the Covid-19 virus, I just want to confirm that my classes will be continuing as normal.

Training classes – to reassure you, these are all run outdoors.  I ensure I give plenty of space between clients and their dogs anyway so the dogs can concentrate and please could I ask you to continue to respect this.

1-1s will also be going ahead and I will ensure I apply the appropriate level of hygiene as I arrive and throughout the appointment.

I am following the most up to date advice from the government and will revise at any time that this is required.

As of 12.03.2020 following government advice if you have a new, persistent cough or high temperature you are advised to self-isolate for seven days.  If this effects you for a class, I will send you an email with the notes from that session and will help you catch up on anything you miss when you return the following week.  In the event that people are unable to continue with their course of 1-1s, I will convert the remaining sessions to Skype or postpone to a later date. I am also looking at virtual options if required for group classes.

If anyone feels that attending classes or 1-1s will put them at risk because they are in an identifiable high-risk group, they should not attend.  Refunds will be at the discretion of The Contented Hound.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
